Conference Day 1
Day 1 is done. It turns out that I’m not really the intended audience. Everyone else has medical experience and they’ve said, straight out, that having a non-medical IT person teach this series would be a grave disservice to the students. I spoke with the organizers and they recommend a team-teaching with an industry person. There’s a big emphasis on hospital experience and culture, and some other disheartening quotes. We will have to investigate further. It’s clear to me that the only reasonable way to proceed would involve someone from the hospital to teach it with me, and maybe I can do an internship alongside the students and teach it myself the following year. Stuff like this always makes me feel “stupid”.

Tomorrow we get a demo (hopefully, tech issues notwithstanding) of a electronic medical records system.
